Yoga Class FAQ
True Living Yoga is outfitted with mats, blocks, blankets, pillows, bolsters and straps for your use. So, initially, you don’t need to bring a thing! Some students prefer to have their own mat, and you’re certainly welcome to bring your own if you have one. Bring a towel, if you sweat a lot.
Yoga focuses on calmness, control and flexibility, so clothing should not interfere with achieving those goals. It should be a comfortable “second skin” that permits movement, viewing alignment and making postural adjustments as needed.
Some guidelines to follow to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort.
- Try to arrive early. If you are late, enter quietly.
- Sign your name on the class sign-in sheet.
- Refrain from wearing heavy fragrances, perfumes or jewelry.
- Try not to eat 2 hours before class.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Inform the teacher of any ailments or physical restrictions.
- Turn off your cell phone before class.
- If you sweat a lot, wipe your mat with a towel.
- Roll mats tightly, and put props away neatly.
- Dont’t forget to take your belongings.
- No mat saving.

Yoga Class Descriptions
“Warm” Vinyasa Rahini Yoga with Heidi – All Levels: “Warm” Rahini Yoga is when Rahini Flows (Vinyasas) are used before and after static (holding) yoga poses, some of which are specific to Rahini Yoga. This sequence is repeated throughout the yoga class. The Rahini Flows during warm yoga are linked by Ujjayi breathing, while the holding yoga poses use either the Rahini Yoga “empowerment” or “energy” breathing techniques. The yoga room temperature is 82 to 90 degrees. Bring a towel and water.
Yoga For Beginners with Eileen: A gentle Rahini Yoga Class with a personalized touch and compassionate approach. This class never seems to be the same, but yet you always leave feeling refreshed, uplifted, and relaxed. Adjustments and modifications are personally tailored to the student. All are welcome.
Gentle Yoga for Everyone: A great class for beginners—and everyone interested in exploring a gentle practice. This gentle class includes basic breathing exercises, as well as a variety of foundational postures (standing, seated, and on the floor), stretches, and gentle movements or vinyasas.
Rahini Yoga with Rotating Teachers – Level 1: Flow and Gentle Yoga is a Rahini Yoga-Inspired class where breath and movement are seamlessly united- “FLOWS, so that each action encourages the other. The linking of rhythmic pranayama, asana and music allow the body to flow through the sequence in a moving meditation. All are welcome.
Yoga Pilates with Meryl Level 1: A blend of “Pilates” on the mat with traditional Hatha Yoga poses. Emphasis is placed on developing core strength & endurance and how it helps with proper body posture, yoga pose alignment, & breathing. Modifications & props are offered. Suitable for everyone.
Yoga Core with Meryl – All Levels: A blend of “Pilates” on the mat with traditional Hatha Yoga poses. Emphasis is placed on developing core strength & endurance and how it helps with proper body posture, yoga pose alignment, & breathing. Modifications & props are offered. Suitable for everyone.
Rahini Flow with Aurora – Level 1-2: Begin your Sunday with challenging & stimulating yoga flow sequences – Vinyasas. This class emphasizes fundamentals, natural body alignment, and breath awareness. Class ends with soothing, relaxing & well-supported restorative yoga poses or stretches. All are welcome.
Vinyasa with Aurora – Levels 1-2: A dynamic Rahini based practice that focuses on a Vinyasa style of yoga that explores the body, mind & soul through asana practice, breathing exercises, mind awareness and focus. Modifications of yoga poses are demonstrated. A perfect way to start your day! Open to all.
Beginner’s Yoga with Heidi: A perfect class for the beginner who has little or no experience with yoga. Faith will introduce the basics of yoga at a pace that is comfortable, safe, and non-intimidating. This class is a great way to explore and experience the joy and benefits of yoga.
“Power Hour” Yoga with Penni – All Levels: Core Vinyasa draws on the principles of Rahini Yoga. This prana (energy) inducing yoga class moves from the “center” toward personal transformation. Expect both vinyasa combined with holding postures and lots of energizing breathing to build core strength, endurance, and tone. You will leave feeling relaxed, spacious and empowered. Modifications offered.
Detox & Restore with Heidi - Rahini Yoga Levels 1-2: This uplifting class begins with warm up Vinyasas (Rahini Yoga Flows) & culminates with several “held” poses to help build strength, flexibility, & focus. Movement with breath is emphasized. During the last 15 minutes of the class, the student is gently guided in and out of soothing restorative poses. Modifications are offered. All are welcome!
Senior’s Yoga with Heidi: A “gentle” class designed for seniors. This class enhances flexibility, strength, and balance. Emphasis is placed on deep, full & interactive breathing; correct body posture; and mental focus & concentration. Poses are modified to suit individual needs. Anyone who is capable of climbing one flight of stairs will be physically able to participate.
Restorative Yoga is a gentle, calming, therapeutic kind of yoga that opens up space for deep relaxation and soothing meditative healing. With the support of props and hands on adjustments, gentle poses are held for extended periods of time to allow students to slow down, go inward, and renew and nurture the physical, mental, and emotional bodies. This class is a wonderful addition to a more active yoga practice or to counter and support athletic workouts. Great for those recovering from illness or disease. All levels are welcome.
Yin Yoga is a quiet, meditative practice suitable for all levels of experience. Many of the poses are seated, supine or prone and are held with muscles relaxed for several minutes to increase circulation in the joints, improve flexibility, and promote the healthy flow of energy throughout the body, including the organs. Through mindful muscle relaxation, our yin yoga class gently releases and lengthens dense connective tissue of the hips, pelvis, spine, and shoulders which may otherwise become stiff and less mobile because of aging, old injuries or chronic overuse.
Space is left for the student to explore body sensations and the breath through awareness and mindfulness, and to experience inner calm and balance by learning how to let go of tension stored in the body and nervous system. The Yin practice includes powerful mental and emotional benefits as its practitioner becomes quiet, still and mindful of the present. The Yin practice is also a wonderful compliment to a more vigorous yoga practice, running, cycling, or other more active pursuits.

“Labyrinth Meditation Walks” with Sukh Shabad Singh - a walking spiritual journey, a labyrinth can be a source of solace and can quiet an over active, over-stimulated or distracted mind. When troubled by disturbing emotions, unsettling experiences or unfortunate events in your life, walking a labyrinth can help resolve inner turmoil or restlessness and still your mind enough for you to get clarity of what is going on.
